Shuttered Remington Gun Plant Reopens

In October, a bankrupt Remington terminated nearly 600 workers at the plant.

After 200 years in business, gunmaker Remington filed for bankruptcy for the second time in July of 2020.

Later that year, the company sold its assets to seven different bidders.

One was the Roundhill Group LLC, which bought Remington’s non-Marlin firearms business for $13 million, a deal that included two factories.

Remington’s factory in Ilion, New York, was closed in October after 585 furloughed workers were abruptly terminated without severance pay.

Since then, Roundhill has pursued plans to re-open the plant, but delays caused them to renege on a March plan to bring production workers back in.

This week, Syracuse.com reported that Roundhill has called 230 workers back to the factory.

The plant will reportedly start production with the Model 870 shotgun line.

According to the report, Roundhill hopes to bring back hundreds more workers and continue to ramp up production in Ilion.
