NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. (AP) -- GE Healthcare has opened a new $165 million factory to build state-of-the-art digital mammography machines in upstate New York.

Company officials joined state and local leaders for an opening ceremony Friday at the 230,000 square-foot plant at the Rensselaer Technology Park just outside Albany.

They say the new facility will bring 150 high-paying manufacturing jobs to the area. This is GE Healthcare's first expansion of high-tech medical equipment manufacturing in New York. The digital X-ray technology used in mammography was developed at GE Global Research in nearby Niskayuna.

General Electric Co. is based in Fairfield, Conn.

Mfg Move *to* NY!?!  6/17/2009 12:49:00 PM
OMG! I wonder what kind of tax break GE received for this?! Guv Dave Paterson and the rest of the tax-spendors (read "democrats") in Albany would rather pass a kidney stone than help manufacturers be competitive, so I'm wondering what devine intervention made this happend....

Is it really a state of the art factory or a smoke screen so GE can store all of our medical records as wanted by King & Ruler OBAMA?
